Our Fallen Heroes
|
Graven November 3597
event
|
|
Guardian Graven was a valiant Dwarf, new to Crossroads. This
brave soul had only briefly inhabited our town when he was cruelly
stuck down by marauding feeblemind fungoids!
Guardian Graven died defending the Heart that had mysteriously
fled the Healing Heart. While Graven's defense was truly inspired,
and led to the rescue of the Heart, it was not enough to preserve
his own life.
Guardian Graven will be deeply mourned. It is especially sad
that he should die so soon after being reunited with Paige,
his long lost love.

Xyzyx
February 3598 event
|
|
The Honorable mischief loving Wandrakin, Xyzyx died
tragically in the evening hours of Saturday by the Dominion.
His loss was heavily taken by some of the townsfolk who are
taking the recent Dominion attacks very personally. One of his
favorite past times was throwing around small vials making people
very sleepy. He was a fine friend and great companion. His help
in solving many puzzles and the help he was contributing to
the unsolved will be missed. He will forever be in our hearts.
May he live happily in the great Kai, and may he keep Nodnol
company.

|
Nodnol
February 3598 event in Dallas
|
|
Nodnol, the beleaguered open-eyed
Paxan and high level cook, failed his first resurrection attempt.
Nodnol was in Bannockburn this weekend to perform a risky and
mystical Paxan Ritual with Warren Able. Against his better judgment,
Nodnol was drawn into a fantastic battle with the Mador, his
son, many mudmen, crystalline beings and orcs. Nodnol fought
heroically but fell toward the end of the battle. Argent's valiant
attempt to renew Nodnol, arrived 30 seconds too late. Argent's
terse "Damn" sums up the feelings of all concerned.
Tragically, Nodnol died without knowing if the ritual was successful.
Nodnol will be sorely missed by all who met him, and deeply
mourned by his many friends.

Jagranth
March 3598 event
|
|
Jagranth, the Rakasha Warrior, was
cruelly swallowed by a giant squid early Saturday morning. Jag,
as he was known to his friends and lazy humans, was a member
of the Toymakers and the Hero's Guild. He did his job well.
The quiet, quick, keen-nosed battle caster was adored by many.
Its a shame Jag's life was cut short. He was a valiant fighter
and a true friend. Jag will be missed by all and his legacy
will live on beyond him.
|
|
Onyx, March 3598 event
|
|
Onyx
the ill-fated Nulvari Elf also died permanently this
weekend. More details as I can torture them out of his friends!
Well... below is the only submission received:
An Obituary for my friend Onyx Blackheart IV
Onyx was a friend and a compatriot. He will be sorely missed
by all. All but me. I have a slightly different view, for I
witnessed his bravery and stupidity many times.. As the Errock
named Ka-Tula-Tai-Kulsui-Kakajunu-Dai once said, "His Kai flows
freely." Unfortunately, so does his blood.
He was a strong willed fighter, but he was not strong of mind.
He did not know his own limits, which proved to be his downfall.
He had an uncanny knack for finding trouble. And for passing
his curses on to his allies. He was a defiler of graves and
deserved his death.
He will be missed by some, but not by me. Everyone should thank
Teague for perming him. He would have brought us all down with
him.
Be on your guard. Do not be like him!
And now.. a word from his enemies!

Mo Ro Zart March
3598 event
|
|
Mo Ro Zart, Smunch's right hand jann died early on Saturday
at the hands of an imperial assassin. Mo had been acting assistant
guild master for the local merchant's guild. Like any true merchant
he died during the middle of a business transaction as the assassin
calmly walked up to him and in his words, "delivered a message".
While the true reasons for his assassination may never be known
the rumor is that he was killed for embezzlement and price fixing
outside of guild rules. This may explain his extended absence
from the area of Crossroads before his death.
|
|
DoDad, June
3598 Event
|
|
DoDad, the mighty Wandrakin Warrior died early Saturday morning.
He was the first death of the day.
DoDad was a truly effective fighter. He could turn one heal
3 wounds into 5 to 15 points of damage. While he very closely
resembled a yo-yo in his fighting style, his cheerful face and
only mildly annoying (for a Wandrakin) person will be deeply
missed.
|
|
Galis Drae 'Kon June
3598
|
|
Galis, the Fae plagued Ikonesti failed his ninth resurrection
attempt late Sunday afternoon. Even in Death the Fae seemed
unwilling to let him be. His remain mysteriously vanished from
the Heart; the wizard lock blown from the inside!
Galis, the noble Ikonesti, had many friends even
though his heart was cold. All of them were willing to give
their lives to protect him. His views of himself were twisted,
he believed himself to have no honor yet many people have stated
that he was truly an honorable friend. The earth beings that
took the beloved Galis away will soon realize how much of a
mistake that was. Farewell friend Galis, your presence will
be missed.

X'ao August 15
3598
"This is my revenge on Plot for making me a target"
|
|
X'ao died nobly Sunday afternoon
fighting Stone casting, trade inhibiting bandits. He was trying
to help a sleep victim when he was cruelly struck down.
X'ao was a good friend and a grand gypsy. May he find happiness
wherever he now resides. The local Gypsies sped him on his way
by sprinkling his funeral pyre with intoxicants.

|
(Kay-ek),
October 10 3598
|
|
,
a recent arrival to Crossroads, died messily Saturday night
from an attack by swarms of diseased bats. He met his end trapped
in the tavern with the bats while the rest of the townsfolk
vainly attempted to variously kill the bats, let them out of
the tavern, or get into the tavern to help those stricken. Tre'Sahn
efforts at first aid were doomed to fail as tragically as 's
resurrection attempt did.
Joined our
community in September and became almost instantly very wealthy
by solving a highly complex puzzle involving a bazaar runic
language and mind twisting riddles. He was generous with his
wealth, spending freely and rewarding those who helped him in
any way with the most useful of commodities, cash! His quick
mind and generous spirit will be sorely missed!
|
| Ian
Knottingham, November
3598 |
|
Ian died tragically Saturday night,
bravely battling shadow dogs. He was a recent arrival to our
town, but he made a big impression on those of us fortunate
enough to have met him. He was valiant, honest, upright, gallant,
modest and highly skilled in the warrior arts.
Ian joined the House of the Healing Heart shortly after his
arrival. The House valued him almost as much as the ladies of
Crossroads did. Protector Teague had planned to help him with
his quest to join the Royal Order of the Sun, who have now lost
a very promising young man. Crossroads morns deeply for Ian.
|
| Four
InYear, December 3598 |
| For InYear,
another recent arrival to Crossroads, died permanently Sunday
afternoon when he was knocked down and brutally murdered the second
time by the vicious brigands that have been plaguing the area.
The first time the brigands slit his throat and threw him back
to the party. Thermal of New Tassel was able to renew him that
time. Determined to stop the brigands, the Paxan For charged back
into battle and his untimely death. |
| Shea |
|
Local scholar Shea was recently
found dead in the desert. The circumstances surrounding his
death are certainly bizarre. He was reported to have choked
on twenty pieces of gold, which no one seems to be able to account
for. A map to the eye of the storm was found on his body, but
his precious (rumored to be magical) sword was not. Shea and
his wisdom will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He leaves
no known kin.
|
| Paige,
January 3599 |
|
Our much beloved Paige took her
final death today, early in a painfully unsuccessful attempt
to save Crossroads by recovering the Eye of the Storm.
A 12th level alchemist, Paige had many admirers, including a
man she had never met who sent her gifts and flowers via commanded
dominion changelings. Among her more normal suitors, Kazaganthi
Trialfinder seems the most stricken by her death.
In addition to being an honorary Gypsy, a member of the Black
Brigade and the Silver Spoons, Paige was a highly valued asset
to Crossroads. She was instrumental in creating the fungicides
that killed the fungoids that plagued Crossroads for so long.
Her loss will be deeply felt.
|
| Patriarch
Geeze, February 3599 |
|
Beloved father, husband and womanizer,
Geeze, venerated Patriarch of Crossroads House of the Healing
Heart, has departed our realm. Rumored to be a member of the
Heartland's Council, and therefore eligible to be buried in
the Heartland's, our Patriarch chose to be buried locally in
Crossroads as he was instrumental in it's growth and development.
Grand Patriarch Linneas sends his regards and states "With
Geeze's death, the Heart has lost a valued member. When at his
prime, Geeze was a grand example of the best the Heart could
produce."
Geeze will be missed by all who knew him, and most especially
by the Heart. May he find the piece of mind that has eluded
him for so long.
Geeze is survived by his son Stephan and a plethora of mistresses,
floozies, and assorted lady friends.
|
| Sqeej, March
14, 3599 |
|
Sqeej was the unfortunate victim
of an inopportune encounter with Ice Spiders. More details will
be posted as they become available.
It is interesting to note, that even in death, Sqeej was able
to pull off at least one last practical joke!. When his death
was announced in the Tavern, the Rakasha group from New Thassle
assumed their friend Loss was the Wandrakin in question. They
were most surprised to see Loss alive!
Sqeej was a cheerful fellow, always willing to put his body
in harms way for the good of the town. Or maybe he just liked
getting blown up. You can never tell with Wandrakin.
While Squeej leaves no known kin, we are sure, someone, somewhere
loved him and misses him.
|
| Silverthorn
Miergrie |
| Known to most as simply 'Thorn",
has joined the elite group of weak- spirited individuals who cannot
resurrect successfully. She leaves behind a daughter, Sapphire,
and a journal that seems to have been filled with rude conjecturing
about most of the town. Her healing abilities will be missed but
her spoons will not. It would seem she has left all her worldly
goods to the Heart ,of which she was a member. It is rumored her
final prophecy was vaguely negative. |
| Apollo
Trailblazer July, 3599 |
| Apollo Trialblazer,
Kendari Herbalist and hero's guild member, failed his resurrection
attempt and to beat the odds. This was his ninth resurrection.
As a master Herbalist, Apollo's skills will be deeply missed.
Valiant and determined fighter, Apollo's loss will be felt on
the front lines as well as in mines and at harvest time. Apollo
was burned at Sunrise in a secret Kendari Ritual. |
| Kazaganthi
Trailfinder, August 3599 |
| The noble Kazaganthi
died in the line of duty. He had gone out into the monster infested
woods looking for a member of Haven's Cat pack. He found them
and a battle as well. They lived, but let Kaz die. Kas was a well
respected member of Crossroads. He held a position of leadership
within the Hero's guild and a citizen of the Oracle. |
| Sirap,
August 3599 |
| Honored and beloved Sirap,
Acting head of the Crossroads Merchants' Guild took is 8th and
final death at the hands and teeth of the Acid Dwarves, who managed
to find him even tho' he wasn't in the Gypsy Cabin. Sirap's skills
as both a fighter/mage and merchant, generosity and good heartedness
will be deeply missed and mourned. He leaves behind Miranda and
the highly depleted gypsy family of Crossroads. |
| Kraw
Grimwing, August 3599 |
| The Avarian Kraw also died in the same
Acid Dwarf raid on the Heart. Defender Kraw was a dedicated member
of the Heart and quite competent in battle. His raptor-like speed
allowed him to rescue the Gypsy matriarch as she lay dying at
the base of the fire fury. His ability to strike down enemies
with a single blow will be sorely missed. He leaves behind no
known relatives, but his family of the Heart. He will be soarly
missed. |
| Miranda
Beadpick November 3599 |
|
Crossroads suffered a devastating blow today with the loss
of Miranda Beadpick. Heroes' Guild member,
Heart Goodmyn and Acting Matriarch Beadpick was a merry Gypsy,
a skilled and competent healer. She spent the last 3 months
of her life in (well-dressed) morning for her beloved Sirap,
and claimed to see him frequently after his death.
While Beadpick never seemed to understand the motivations of
her fellow townsfolk, she had many friends who were duly distraught
by her death. Her final words included good wishes towards her
friends and a beyond the veil promise to haunt Grand Patriarch
Lineas into paying attention to the Crossroads Heart.

| Zinco the TrollBorn,
March '00 |
| Karonis Ernoth
March '00 in Haven |
| Melt "the good
eyes" Crimson, March '00 in Haven |
| Protector
Frederick IronSword, March '00 in Haven |
Greeting Friends,
I know that many of you loath me and wish ill upon me. But Frederick
Ironsword was great friend and valiant protector of the Heart,
even though he served the silver tongued charlatan, The Voice.
Many times I owed my life to Frederick, and due to his protection
I see what he saw, that the Heart need to be protected, and I
hope that I will be able to protect the Heart even better than
Frederick did. I wish that I could have saved Frederick as he
had requested by turning him to the truth of the Heart, But alas
his spirit was to weak.
Now I turn to my siblings, Pulse and Sparks. I have challenged
the Sovereign and beaten him. Now Clan Crimson will hold even
greater honor while aligned with The Order of The Blood.
Squire Melt,
The Infernal Sovereign |
| MadDawg
Fago Spritz, June 3600 |
|
Our beloved sheriff, MadDawg was viciously murdered last night
as he slept in the tavern, keeping an eye on the jail. MadDawg
was proud to have been chosen to be sheriff, took his duties
seriously. He did his best for Crossroads. MadDawg's murderer
was captured and appropriately punished.
Queen Emma is grief-stricken, having lost her favorite subject
and playmate. The rest of us are infinitely saddened to know
we'll never hear his cheerful voice commanding various villains
to "get out of my town!"
|
| Atrax
Robustus, March 3601 |
| In this world many come and go and the
only thing they leave us with is our memories. Even though Atrax's
time with us was short he still left us with many great memories.
He used his poisons for the good of the town. Never hesitating
to run to the side of his fellow townsfolk against any foe. Do
not shead a tear of grief for Atrax, for he died in combat defending
the town he loved dearly. Shed only tears of joy for his spirit
is with us always. |
| Camden,
July 3601 |
| Camden, a simple giving human, spent
his life in the service of others. If he could not use a resource
right away, he gave it to someone who could without charge. Despite
his rebellious potential, it was suppressed by his love for humanity.
Farewell friend, we shall all miss your company and constant advocacy
for our survival. Your ultimate sacrifice will never be forgotten,
your bravery, courage and compassion will always be missed. Enjoy
your eternal rest, Camden. Our hearts will always be vacant until
we come home. |
| Kage August
3601 |
| Kage, an aspiring Typhonesti who had
turned his back on Wind, died by suicide. Kage began his quest
to become a fire champion soon after the destruction of his village
by Stone Cleaver one year ago. Before he took his own life, he
mourned for his lost follower, Sitel, at the hands of the evil
vine men. May he find peace in his last actions on Urth. |
| O'Gus
Gallop September 3601 |
The brave and gallant Guardian OGus
Gallop, the snapping turtle changeling, took his final death Saturday,
September 15, 3601 in a deadly battle with faceless beings on
the Fae Realm.
An accomplished trap maker, Guardian OGus came to Crossroads
over a year ago, the first representative of his race wed
seen. He advanced rapidly in the House of the Healing Heart on
the Royal Order of the Sun Branch.
In addition to his duties to the Heart, Gus had the honor of being
chosen to be the Water Champion in Training by a local Water Elemental.
Guardian OGus fulfilled his various duties with honor and
panash. He was a private and quiet man. We know not what personal
goals his untimely death left unfinished.
Guardian Gallop is deeply mourned and missed.

| Pulsar
Lightwave November 3601 |
This is the frist thing I have ever written
so please forgive my errors I'm still lerning.
Recently, some rat men who had been working with the irritating
and useless Fippy Longtail killed me and my friend Pulsar Lightwave.
Pulse didn't come back. This is an obichuwary and a warning to
the idiot reasponsible for his death.
First, I want people to remember Pulsar for his devotion to the
town of Crossroads. He was always willing to do what ever it took
to protect this community. Countless times I saw him use every
bit of magic and alchemy at his disposal rather than yield the
battlefield when we felt it was important. Even when those avenues
had been exhausted he was willing to lend his well intended but
limited sword skills to the cause. I have worked with very few
people I would rather enter battle with. No, I have met no one
I would rather enter battle with. I can't think of anything I
can say to show further respect for him than that. So, instead
I will issue my warning.
Fippy I am going to kill you.
Protector Demetri Sheriff of Crossroads.
|
| Demetri April 3602 |
|
Our community lost a great defender recently, when Protector Demetri failed to ressurect after a mission in the Colony of Mesina. For years Demetri was a promonent and vocal opponent of powerful men and creatures who sought to harm the simple folk of Crossroads. He fought alongside others agianst Elmental Furies, Ancient Dragon Spirits, Currupt Nobles and wicked Kothite Empiralist. He sacrificed himself repeatedly for the Heart and the people of Crossroads. His deeds did not stop at the borders of the Wust, however, he killed giants in Mesina, and attacked the very heart of Stone Clever in Haven. As protector of the Crossroads Heart, Demetri was almost surenatuarly successful at battling the Order of the Blood. He never let his Heart fall to their attacks, and even took the fight to thier local strong holds on one occasion to prevent one of the seals from being breeched. He had an oppurtunity to wield Vigilance agianst the Abominations on a couple of occasions. To my knowledeg no other Heart force had the perfect record that the Crossroads Heart, led by Demetri, possessed against the Order.
When I heard of the passing of this great man, my heart was filled with sorrow at the thought of such a hero being taken so young. I thought of the great Kendal and Sir Logan. And how Demteri could have been my childrens' role model the way that those men inpsired me. Then I remembered a conversation we once had, where I asked what he thought of settling down, I even offered to introduce him to some of my cousins. He looked at me, with those eyes that seemed far older than the rest of him, and said, "I don't have to think about settling down, because those of us who live by the sword, die by it. The trick is to leave a few good stories behind and hope someone appreciates what you did." Then he smiled and said, "I'd be happy meet those cousins though." When I think about it, its hard to mourn the passing of a man that acomplished more in just a few years than most man get done in thier life times. Protector Demetri may be gone, but his presence will be felt for generations. And those of us who remember his deeds will make sure that his sacrifices for us will not be wasted. |
